Every now and then I get a chance to see some generational Pirates, and it makes my heart happy. 💜💛I will be collecting photos throughout this year. Hoco Spirit Week Day 2... Twin Day The Ultimate Twins!! 💛💜

Yesterday our Cross Country kids competed in the 1A-2 District meet in Viola. Jr. Boys finished in 2nd place as a team while Tyler Davis placed 3rd overall in the Sr. Boys division and Taylor White finished 4th overall in the Sr. Girls division. We are so proud of the heart and determination of all of our runners throughout the year! Go Pirates!

Our third grade students have been busy building bridges as a part of their science unit on forces. Working in teams, they collaborated to design, build, and test their very own bridges- putting their creativity, problem-solving skills, and understanding of physics into action. It’s amazing to see what young minds can accomplish when they work together! 💜💛

2nd grade did an amazing job of creating dioramas for their animal habitats. Lots of research went into their projects.  The students also presented their projects with their research to the class.💜💛

This week Mrs. Ray's 5th graders spent time working on their personal narratives by "telling" their stories before writing them.💜💛

First Graders had fun with a partner practicing their digraphs with “Read and Roll”💛💜

Second grade GT students enjoyed being a part of making their own quilt for their teachers (Mrs. Yoder and Ms. Taylor). Thank you to Mrs. Alice Bullard for helping our students create as part of the Big Blanket Lesson.

The sixth grade students learned about the many different contributions of Ancient Egyptians that impacted the world. The most influential is hieroglyphics, which all writing systems stem from. The Rosetta Stone allowed for the translations of these hieroglyphics. The students created their own message in hieroglyphics and why the Rosetta Stone is significant. 💜💛

There will be a Special Board meeting on Monday the 29th at 6:00 pm

🧼🫧🧫 Wash those hands! Last week, Food Safety & Nutrition made homemade bread and devoured it with jelly, honey, or as grilled cheese. Each group sacrificed a piece or two to contaminate in various ways, and a control piece only touched by hands that had been washed correctly with soap and water. As evidenced by the pictures - Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands!

Nutrition Science had a fun day!! The students have been learning the structure of the skeletal system, diseases and disorders, and how our nutrition can prevent or help treat them. After passing their quizzes, they practiced modeling bone structure with homemade rice cereal treats. 🦴💀
